Apart from totaly agreeing with Simon on all the things that he said, all I want
to add is that if anyone wants the nastiest Over/Under drive in the world, wait
for Timm Cooper to build what he has in mind. It is in prototype at present. It
is an Overdrive unit with an "H" shaped box. There will be a high side a neutral
side and a nasty low side. There will be something like 16 forward gears and 3
reverse (just what I always wanted) The high side will be an overdrive in all
gears. The neutral position will be where the stock gearbox is normally, and the
low side will be all those gears in low. The lowest range first gear will be an
unbelievable two and a half times lower than it is stock. The high in fourth,
will be 32% over and make for some fast cruising. In reality, you would only use
the overdrive as a "5th" gear like a Fairey, and the low for the more difficult
offroad stuff. Low, low reverse might be nice for backing down those "oh shit!"
Climbs as well. It will be $1500 to $2000 to buy and will be able to withstand
the V8's. It will be mine!!!!!!!!!!! With all these parts on mine, I am going
to have to call it a "Cooper" not a Land Rover, but that will confuse me when I
have it and the Mini side by side as I will not be able to tell which is which!
    Kind regards,
    Mark.
