Thanks to everyone who responded on the pushrod question. I can pick up a used
head and new parts for it pretty cheaply here so I think what I will do is
look for a good 8:1 head and make that 9:1. That way I can always go back to
the 7:1 if I am unhappy, assuming that the 9:1 doesn't do something
catastrophic! Also might make it a quicker job assuming no bolt heads break
off and the like. Two questions:

    1. When going from 8:1 to 9:1 the same shorter pushrods need to be used as
would be going from 7:1 to 8:1, right?

    2. Is there any special kind of steel to specify when I go to my machinist and
have him make a new set of pushrods? I would love titanium but don't have that
    kind of money lying around.

Case hardening. Last time I had my machinist harden something they were
heating it up red hot and then dipping it in a coffee can with some yellow
substance in it. When I asked them what is was they told me it was cyanide.
Be a bummer to confuse that with some creamer!

    Regards,
