The problem with the Kyoto treaty is that it is a guilt trip on the
technically advanced nations. A classic example of socialism/communism
attempt to redistribute wealth. The 1st world is supposed to suffer under
severe restrictions while the 3rd world is free to continue on its filthy
    way.

Global warming is not a fact. There has been a very slight increase in
temperature but its way too soon to tell if that is a normal variation in
the temperature of the earth or an actual long term trend. The eco freaks
were claiming a new ice age 20 years ago. The disaster Du Jour is now
global warming. Its probably going to be the Sun next.

Humans, and sheep for that matter, produce more CO2 per person than
automobiled per car. Mount Pinatubo put many times the pollutants into the
air in a few months than mankind has put (sp} on to the earth in our entire
history. Computer models are seriously flawed and have given results that
are at best laughable. The ice pack is melting at sea level on Green land
yet the Island is rising so more snow is falling in the highlands. Net
result is more trapped precipitation than before.

The Kyoto Treaty puts no or very low restrictions on nations like China yet
China is probably the greatest polluter in the world. One of China's goals
is a refrigerator in every home. Guess which ozone unfriendly chemical will
be the refrigerant in these frig's. Instead of burning Jungle for short
term economic gain, countries like the US are actually putting land back
into forests and reducing the amount of land under cultivation. We are
doing this because we have developed very efficient farming methods and
    genetically modified crops.

The eco freaks have shut down the Nuclear power industry in the US.
Interesting how the same people that rail against coal fired power plants
also, violently oppose the only non polluting and virtually limitless power
    source that we have.

I could go on and on but suffice to say that 'W' was smart to not sign the
Kyoto Treaty. It is sChina and Russia have refused to sign the treaty, by
the way. reverely regressive against some nations while totally ignoring
    most others.

That's not to say that conservation and concern for the environment should
be abandoned. Its just that attempts should be based on fact not hysteria.
My hat is off to our President for not getting us into the morass of Kyoto.

If you didn't know, China and Russia have also refused to sign the treaty.

    Aloha
    Peter
