Seems the college students living out back of here in the woods
would blow several holes in Marin's statement as well.
I'm not saying there aren't any young people out there who
are worth taking the time to talk to, I'm saying I haven't
met any in the last five years or so. Virtually every person
under 23 or so I've talked to lately couldn't find the planet
Earth on a globe.
We used to say, "Don't trust anyone over thirty." Now that
we've grown up, we've come to realize there's a second part
to that statement. "Don't bother with anyone UNDER thirty."
But the lack of reality and responsibility in youth is the fault
of their parents and the school system, not them. (My statements
about youth apply to my observations in the US. In Europe and
most of the rest of the world, kids seem a hell of a lot more aware
and responsible, again because of their parents and the vastly
superior educational systems on the other sides of both oceans.)
