The Stromberg carb is pretty common here in Australia. My '75 had one as
well when I got it. I found it ran too rich and that trait couldn't be tuned
out so I replaced it with a Weber. Fuel economy improved greatly as did
power slightly.
Perhaps yours is the same? Too rich a mixture can rob power.
