Dang, John. You are a bright fellow! ;-) I wouldn't have thought 2 x
1/4" would have held but seeing as this is only a little motor it should do.
Though, since I will be at the bolt supply place soon I will just pick up
the right bolts. Good thing they are SAE and not Wit. I'm told there would
be at least a 2 week wait on those.

I used two pieces of 2x 1/4 flat about 12 inches long to bolt to the
rear of the engine then drilled 3/8 holes in them to bolt to the stand.
This allowed me to use the original bolts on the engine and regular
3x3/8 bolt in the stand
