I, and several others here ran 1 bbl webers for quite a few years, and
none of us had any major icing problems although Colorado is fairly dry
compared to most other states. I didn't have the heat shield and even
installed a header later, on which removed one more heat source from the
carb. I say try it and see what you think. If you have problems, then
try to find a solution. I probably still have my heat shield somewhere
if you need one.
