    SOme noise is normal, but if it is very loud and
    accompanied by a clicking or ticking then it is likely the
    reverse gear that is bereft of teeth.

    It can be inspected w/o pulling the transmission, by
    lifting the floor and removing the top cover of the gearbox
    afterdraining (and screening for chunks) the lubricating
    oil.

    met.
