Well, I've made it official. My first Series LR arrived this morning! I am
the proud owner of a 1967 109 inch 5 door! It started life as a RHD but was
rebuilt on a 1980 Series III LHD military chassis and drivetrain. It is a
reliable daily driver. I'll have to get some pics up on the web.
Now I can stop lurking and start asking questions...lots of questions!
She keeps her name "Penelope" given by the previous owner.
Interestingly, I am thinking she still has a RHD gear shift lever. The lever
leans to the right slightly and when shifted into 4th is a full extended arm
away!...or is this normal?
Also, the right side front and back passenger doors don't latch very well
and are loose and rattling. What is the approach to adjusting these? Are the
anti-burst latches that much superior that I should start shopping for a
used set?
Finally, the speedo cable broke right before she was sold to me. So, she has
provided me with my first small project. But, I know sometimes things could
be "just loose" instead of broken. Can this be the case with an inoperable
speedo cable? If so, what do I look for.
P.S. I actually did get the vehicle so that I had something to attach to
that grill badge I have on order!
