Since I have most of the LR apart right now the oil-track-pattern left
on the gearbox/belhousing is very much more obvious. I thought I had a
really bad rear main leak but am thinking it comes from higher up. Is it
common for the selector shafts to leak lots? It looks like there is only an
o-ring on each shaft to stop oil pouring out. In retrospect the leak only
seems to have occurred after a high speed run... but that's probably wishful
thinking.
You know, someone could start a whole new scientific field tracing,
plotting, recording leaks. Researching different modes, causes, resultant
patterns, etc. could be a life filling proposition.
