    There is no voltage stabiliser in the Defender; or, let me clarify, there isn't a
    single voltatge regulator serving all the dash instruments. Each instrument
    does it its self. In the case of the temp guage this might mean a complete
    new guage (or second hand anyway). The other option (not tried) is to reset
    the needle on the guage so it starts lower down. Still, as I say it works at the
    moment so, in best LR tradition, I'm going to leave it alone ;-)
