It would appear that the names of the replacements for the Series III Rovers
was marketing, not reality, driven. Since the Defender Name hadn't been
attached yet, they needed a way to differentiat between the new trucks,
which should have been called the Series IVs, and the Series IIIs. Looks
like ersatz wheelbase numbers were the way they did it. the 93" wheelbase
became the 90 'cause it sounded better than a 93. No one has definitively
stated that the 110 is actually a 110" wheel base. With the bodywork being
identical, in dimensions, to the 109, it could be that the marketing boys
just decided to call the 'New Series IV 109' a 110 to differentiate it.
Besides, from the problems I've had making the bed fit on my 109, the 109
may not have even been a 109. Seems manufacturing tolerances on the frames
were more determined by the availability of Guiness than a quality jig.

196? 88 hard top, possibly 'phoenix' if it rises, it will
certainly be from ashes or at least a pile of rust
