SE draws a higher price than NE or West Coast. Condition is a biggie and if you are looking for a return on an investment, adding several thousand miles of long trips to you series rover is not going to help. especially if this is your first rover and you know little of it's peculiarities. I'd always like to see another rover in the states, if you kin is a good mechanic and driver, more power to him. good luck Paul G SIII SWB "Grendal" ------------------------------[ <- Message 2 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 980111 -> Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]
From: "Jon Haskell" <kb9cml@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Note for 1997 LR/ROW Belize Group Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 10:34:30 -0500 Happy New Year and hope all is well with you and yours....... On chance some of you adventerous types are looking for a unique trip, I wanted to share information on a trip coming up in late May 98. We will be heading up the Amazon and Napo Rivers upstream from Iquitos, Peru. Your Rover will have to stay home on this one, in favor of a shallow draft riverboat. I believe there are a couple of spots available on the trip. If you have interest drop me a line or call. BTW, I noticed that one of our group, Jamie Eisman, has an article published in the recent Rover's North Newsletter. Jon Haskell W8JON Westfield, IN USA 317.873.0244 94 Discovery 110K miles and still running fine. ------------------------------[ <- Message 3 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 980111 -> Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]
From: robot1@juno.com Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 10:50:54 -0600 Subject: Bulkheads With all the talk about people restoring bulkheads, does anyone have a used, serviceable one for sale? I'd also welcome one which could be rebuilt, if the price was right. Also still looking for a good used master cylinder reservoir, the metal can type with separate openings and reservoirs for M.C. and clutch. Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 13:48:19 -0600 From: pcaropreso <pcaropr8@rconnect.com> Subject: bouncing speedometer The needle in the speedometer of my '62 S IIA rises appropriately to 20 mph, and then, at about 30 mph, it starts bouncing all over the place. If it settles down, it is a speed much faster than I am actually going, at least judging by traffic and the speed limit in town. I took it apart, examined it as if I knew what I was looking for, and reassembled it in the dash. Same problem. The only thing that I noticed when I had it apart was a weighted fly wheel, which moved quite easily. Flicking the needle and getting the bounce was no problem, and this action reproduced what I saw in the car. I would appreciate any advice on this matter. Do I need a new speedometer?. Also, you can just replace it! -Michael Regards, Michael Carradine ___,_\__ www.landrover.net Architect [_______] 50-80, 72-88, 89-RR Land Rovers 510-988-0900 _______.._(o)_.(o)__..o^^ POBox 494, Walnut Creek, CA 94597 ------------------------------[ <- Message 6 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 980111 -> Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]

Renken ~:58 Ser One 109 PU ~:renken@foto.infi.net ~ ~Shouldn't that be a 107 PU if a Series 1?? Maybe you ~have a Series II 109? [snip] Maybe so, but Series I LWB 2-doors, in '57 & '58, were 109", and the SWBs were 88". Only the LWB station wagons remained 107". The reason for the increase in wheelbase was to make room for the 2-liter diesel engine (same block as 2.25-liter petrol/diesel). So a late SI with this longer wheebase is a good candidate for upgrading to the newer/larger engine. Subject: Re: Europe Fog Light Specs Date: Sun, 11 Jan 98 09:32:22 +0100 From: Marc Rengers <mr@grant.media-gn.nl> I've got none at this moment (in Holland) and as far as I know not needed. But if fitted it must work. And I would adjust my headlights for driving in the UK. It's easy, I've got some UK-versions of the headlights wich I will fit when going to the UK. Also I must say that the bulbs I've got now are really good: 140/100W from Sweden. Not legal here in Holland, but no-one has noticed it.... legal is: 60/55W. I live in the north of Holland and there are many roads wich are not illuminated. No signs of sharp bends and deep ditches. So at night these lights are tremendous! This is worth noting if it is at all relevant to reply - because a question of where to obtain parts may be intended for within the USA only (or for that matter only in one of the states). My reply with sources within UK or Norway may be irrelevant. Yes, I know I can find the information if I dig deep enough into the computer data, but would it not be nice if everyone gave this information along with their names, listing of their vehicles and so on? Only a suggestion. Bjørnung Jensen Series 1 86" 1955 RR 1978-1992 Norway ------------------------------[ <- Message 12 -> end | Table of Contents | <- Digest 980111 -> Archive Index | <- Browser -> ]
