Paul,

I can view the Intel Inside gif as well as the disclaimer text, but when
I try to look at either of the executables I get a username and password
box. I live close to the Canadian border but on the south side of it.

I drove a 109 once that had 3.54s and a 2.25 with s3 gearbox. What a slug! We
ended up changing to 4.71s. Actually the truc k had started out as a stage
one, then the v8 was removed to make it like a regular s3. What we did was
finish the conversion.

the server requiring authentication for .exe files. Have saved them as .zip

Sorry ,ca

Subject: Clutch problem

Hi all,

Here is the problem:

1 clutch master cylinder ran low on fluid, so I filled it
2 clutch started getting "squishy"
3 pedal goes to the floor with out engaging the clutch.
4 noticed fluid on ground under Rover.

I would figure air for the squishy pedal but doesn't account for the leak.
Also I can't figure out where it was leaking from.

Mike sounds like you have master cylinder problems . I expect you will
you will find the fluid is running down the footwell to emerge
underneath. A rebuild or replacemenr is in order. Not fun!

Mike, it seems like your slave cyl guts have had it. Make sure the fluid
isn't coming out of the mcyl as well. Is your's a III or IIa?

I don't know which out of the Series I - IV you have, but I would be very interested
to hear if it is anything but failed seals - either master or slave cylinders. The 90
has a very useful indicator of source - if you have wet shoe it is the master (it is
also removing paint from the rustprone bulkhead on its way) If not it will be the
slave, leaking out of the clutch housing.

Of course it is air in the system that allows a flat pedal.

On this one, I had a slave seal failure (2 yr old 300Tdi), fixed it and two months
later had to do the master. Lesson - do both while the system is drained. However, one
of the most difficult manipulations was removing the master with the complete clutch
pedal attached, through a small hole in the bulkhead. If the foot pedal was
detached from the lever, this operation would be a breeze. I have separated
them, and re-attached with a couple of bolts, in anticipation of future jobs.
Cheers,
Allan.

AHA! I knew it would happen! Guess who else has got a clutch problem?
Same symptoms, but my big tree in the front yard's got a scar on
it where I tried to unstick the clutch! Nige strikes again!

I did my clutch slave cylinder two weeks ago, so maybe we shouldn't blame
