The club's concern over product liability is greatly unfounded. Why?
Becasue the club has no deep pockets. Rule number one about filing a
lawsuit is: go for the deep pockets. There is no reason to file suit
against a non-profit club because they have no money.

If any item distributed by the club were to cause injury, most likely the
manufacturer of the item would be sued...not the club which merely
distributes the item....there's no money in it.

Its amazing that there could be more Land Rovers packed into the park.
When I was there last year I was amazed at the huge number and density of
cars parked in the park. We showed up Thursday afternoon and there were
already hundreds of cars on the field. In the US a very large Land Rover
meet draws about 100 rigs.

It was the first time I ever walked past hundreds of Land Rovers without
even glancing at them because there were just too many to look at everyone
individually.

An interesting thing. In the US you almost never see a Land Rover pulling
a caravan. My first impression of my first UK Land Rover meet was there
there seemd to be a lot of Land Rovers at this caravan meet.

I'm going to have to look into the costs and regulations about taking my
Land Rover from California to Billing '98.

All,

Just tried Triple-C to get Waxoyl, but all they have at present are small
refill kits. Someone just mentioned another U.S. source in last day or so
-- what was it? Also, anyone have the phome number and part number, etc to
get the spray rig from J.C. Whitney?

Having just spent the last weekend hauling a 1951 Series 1 80" home for

I obtained a copy of 'Legend' a few months ago and saw no mention of
this. Any chance of them changing their minds on this one?

I had occasion to remove the rear spare tire and noticed that the raised
lettering had left an imprint in the paint..I was able to compound out about
90% the dealer said he has seen this before and that the door would be
repainted under warranty I I so desired..
I think the solution would be to add a spacer to get that tire away from
the door ( and the white paint)
Has anyone else seen this and what was the method of correction?

To sue the SI club you have to sue them in the UK since there is no US
presence. They can continue to safely send goods to Canada. Christ, if a
member here can have a diesel head lunched by a local machine shop and the
shop get away with it, the SI club is rather safe.

Steve, the spare on my Disco isn`t anywhere close to the paint . There are
two spacers between the rim and the bracket , but not thick enough to make
that kind of space.

Greetings,

I just received my latest shipment from Paddock Motors.
In it came my new 'CB' type brake master cylinder.
I have heard that these can be very tricky to bleed. Could anyone
send me some tips on doing a successful job?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try lug nuts on the back side to hold the spare "off" a desired distance (as
in distance piece ala Bill Adams). It works on series vehicles.

I believe the worry is that if a $10, $100 or even $1000 part causes or
contibutes to an accident involving injury, death, or even just
inconvenience, the S1 club would be sued for hundreds of thousands or
millions of dollars. Plus the cost of defending oneself in a foreign land.

I don't know if there is any validity to the concern, or if it is even
possible to sue someone in another country, but that doesn't lessen their
concern, or the results of that concern.

Selling parts used and as is doesn't get you off the hook either.

Subject: LR Hydraulic Winch Info

Hi,

I have just bought a 1970 SIIA 109' Station Wagon. It has a hydraulic
winch with a Land Rover logo on it, so I think it is a genuine LR item.
However, I have not been able to find any literature describing this
winch.
Is there anybody out there who can help me ? I am looking for
specifications, and for technical/repair info.

The which has a cast iron wire guide (with no rollers). A hydraulic pump
is mounted on the end of the gearbox, and a control valve is mounted on
its right side. The only kind of "identification" I have been able to
find on the winch is the Land-Rover logo (it looks like the standard LR
oval, but has a third line "MK. II")

If there are members with a little jingle in their pockets, they could be
worried for their own assets. Not that they would necessarily be in danger
(I don't know, I'm not a lawyer, and I don't play one on telly), but they
may worry that they are.
