Jim: I did look at the push rod seats. I dont have a dental pick so I used a
jewelers srewdriver and gently tried to spin them - I didnt want to instigate
any damage! They looked solid, but maybe I was too timid. When I look at the
left bank I will try again. I used a stethescope when the noise manifested
itself when the engine was hot, idle at 700-900rpm, oil p down to 10 or less.
The noise was difficult to trace, but I think it was louder on the right
side. I will check that side again too. Later I drove it to work and it
hardly made a peep and the pressure was about the same as ever in motion, but
nver dropped below 15 psi ( i also set the idle speed back up) Yesterday and
today were cooler here than last week tho'.! I will inform you of further
progress. Thanks. Cheers. Andy

Subject: (Ser 88") Cockemamey Fuel Tank Idea

I was looking at the underside & rear tub of my '65 IIA 88" SW today,
and thinking back on some previous fuel tank discussions here. What I
was thinking is that I'd put a second fuel tank under the LH seat where
I currently have a tool locker. Then instead of cutting the rear
quarter panel and putting a filler there, I'd cut two new holes in the
two tanks: one on the inside side towards the top and one on the inside
side towards the bottom. Then the holes would be connected (top to top,
bottom to bottom) by hoses. That way, I could have two fuel tanks
filled by the same filler and using the same sender. I think one hose
would have to run over the drive shaft and one under (of course, there
would need to be all the proper stuff there to prevent the drive shaft
form wearing a hole in it).

Does this sound like a bad idea? Can anyone think of why I shouldn't do
that?

Thanks,
C

Was there ever a frequency and time set up for a Ham Radio Net or just a
time and place for us to meet agreed on? I suggest something in the 20
meter band like 14.190 or perhaps a bit higher up at 14.215 Mhz for
example. Evenings would be fine. Dave VE4PN

Good idea, Dave. I also recently read the posts concerning a CB
channel for LR drivers to meet on. I was thinking at the time that,
since all LR drivers are plently intelligent enough since they
drive LR's, they should all get their HAM licence and meet on
2 meters when they meet on the road. In case many of you don't
know it, the code requirement, here in the USA, has been done
away with for the Technician Class. You just have to take a
short written test to get your licence to operate on anything
6 meters and above.

Does having a copy of the parts manual (as opposed to the workshop
manual) give much benefit when one is restoring a vehicle? I am just
wondering if I should buy the SI parts manual now that I have the shop
manual.

Hi Peter,

I tried sending you a note back channel, but it was bounced. I checked
and found the two LROI issues that have the stuff on bodywork. I will
check out my Eastwood catalogue and see if they stock Lumiweld over here.

Greetings and Salutations Rover Fans,

For the past 2 years the extreme heat in the drivers foot well has =
caused me great discomfort in my daily driver SWB SIIa. Since I had to =
take my header off to replace a broken starter, I thought I'd have it =
and a 3 foot section of pipe that goes under the floorboard ceramic =
coated. The guy at the shop says it will keep 80% of the heat from =
escaping the pipe. It also has the benifit of permanently sealing the =
header thus eliminating rust ( the ever lasting header). It will cost =
around $125 to be done but my feet are worth it. The stuff works great =
on my families race cars ( you can almost touch the headers with the =
engine on after a 30 min race). I had them leave the top bit of the 2 =
center tubes uncoated to allow for heating of my Weber. I have not got =
it back yet but I'll tell you how it works next week.

Hi all:
I'm looking for a storage bin to fit in the space where the center seat
cushion used to be in my S3. I've looked at the ones available in the auto
and discount stores and none of them seem to fit the bill ( too narrow, too
long, etc. ). There are some neat ones advertised in the British Land
Rover magazines, anyone know if there are similar products available here
and who the dealers might be?
Had a great time at the Downeast this year. It was nice to see some old
friends and to make a number of new ones. I've found LR people to be
friendly, outgoing and very helpful where ever I've run into them. They
are a group that I'm proud to be a part of and I'm looking forward to next
year already!

Yep. Try driving on the side of a slope with the left side down. You
could run out of petrol when you still have 6 or 7 gallons left. If you
place the tubes at the rear you can have 6 or 7 gallons left and run out of
petrol going down hill. If you place them at the front, you have the same
problem uphill.

byte the bullet & put in a second filler. If you have a pattern its easy.
I can show you how to modify the filler hose.

Well, that's why I asked. Hadn't thought of that one.

I know, I know "Don't go down the path of the Kludgy side...". When I
get around to it, I'll talk to you about the filler hose.

I love the Tuffy box I have. The cupholder well definitely get in the
way of an overdrive lever, but can be mounted elsewhere. The URL for
the box is:

Get an "Eezibleed" - not a vizibleed or any other name-copy. The Eezibleed
has a plastic container that comes with it. As long as your nipples aren't
seized, its then really, really easy! The Eezibleed is made by Gunsons, but
I think Gunsons also make lesser, cheaper bleeding tools which you should avoid.

Fitted the bike rack. Had to drill the bodywork under the bumper
but as its well out of warranty it doesn't matter......
Some of the bits had to be slightly modified so that it would
go together. All in all it was a pain in the arse to fit but it
works well and is rock solid over rough tracks and on the
motorway at 90 too.
Before I started on the rack I noticed the exhaust pipe was
at a funny angle. I lifted it up and the whole rear silencer
and tailpipe fell off! It was rusted through where the rearmost
exhaust mount is. Now it sounds great and it gives me an excuse
to go for a big stainless system....
