Unless the US Defender has a different lower rear body, there should be a mud
shield over the light fittings. My D90 came with only one of them. I assumed
that was normal and learned that the rubber seal between the indicator bulb
holder and the lens casing wasn't up to the job. After our recent tropical
storms the mud quotient has risen dramatically and the indicator stopped again
yesterday. This afternoon I sealed the bulb holder to the lens with clear
silicone, so it is now waterproof. I'm waiting for the missing mud shield to be
delivered from the UK.

The rubber shield (part no. BTR1790 in my case) attaches to a metal plate, which
has two screw holes for it. It would be very easy to improvise a replacement
part.

Hi all - I didn't see the original message but it sounded like a Defender
problem.
