Yep, that'l work.. Just remember that all your jumper lead has to be heavy
enough to handle all the switched stuff that normally goes through the
ignigtion switch, so don't go to the local Radio Shack and get those little
pretty colored jumpers. (I call 'em Mission Impossible clips - think about
it...)

Naaa... I just keep a snarling dog chained to the bumper!! :)

The limit you need to spend on towards getting a vehicle smogged is something
like $100. That is, if it's going to cost more than that to smog your
vehicle, you don't need to worry about it. (Real effective, eh?)

However, unless you have a friend working for an authorized smog station,
you'll have to pay $75 or more to get the estimate you need to prove how much
it would cost. (My brother found this out the hard way.)

Y'know, it's too bad we couldn't just get together and figure this out,
instead of leaving it to the politicians! Thanks for a very civilized
discussion about this!

I had an interesting run in w/ a new Defender 90 the other day. I was
out to a hardware store to pick up a few items when, lo and behold, there
parked by itself was a beautiful green Defender! Wow! I figured I'd have a
little fun having the only pre-Defender in Knoxville, so I parked Sidney ('67
IIa 88) right beside it. It reaaly surprised me how similar they looked.
Are the doors interchangeable?!? Anyway I went in the hardware store and waited
for him to emerge. You should have seen his expression when he saw it! He
must have examined every piece to compare it. Anyway, we talked a while and
he said that Land Rover had sent a flatbed 200 miles to pick it up to
fix the fuel gauge, now that's dealer support! He wondered if there was anyway
to fit a rack to a soft top equipped vehicle?? Happy Rovering!!

When I first heard of the desert bill, I was all for it.
For me, the more parks we have, the better. The part that I
disagree with is making parts of the Mojave, Death Valley, etc. a
wilderness. By definition, in areas that are declaired
"Wilderness Areas," no internal combustion engines can be used.
The only exception that I know of is helecopters for rescue
purposes. Park rangers aren't even allowed to use chainsaws to
help clear paths. So declairing any desert area a wilderness
bans all 4x4s until Congress decides otherwise. If they make it
a park then use permits can be issued.
I'd like to see some agency enforcing "Tread Lightly" out
in these desert parts of California, but I don't want 4x4 use
completely banned.
This issue will be really important to me in the near future
because I'm taking a job at China Lake Naval Air Weapons Center
in that part of California. And I'll be wanting to use my Rover
out there.
