That's not quite a true statement. Macs have never executed code on a
disk just by mounting it; DOS machines did. MBR virii made up a large
fraction of viruses prior to email trojans. Macintosh software tends
towards less brain damage than windows software, particularly compared
to stuff that comes out of Redmond. It's only been the last couple
years that any sort of security has been anything other than an
afterthought on MS platforms. It's still not impressive, but it's
improved.

Given that a much higher percentage of Macintoshes are used to do real
work, I think you would notice if they all stopped.
