If you are going to do a valve job and replace guides,
put in the newer single valve springs. If you are
going the unleaded route, you have to change the
exhaust valve guides anyway. The 'top hat' valve
seals do a much better job than the original 'o' ring
seals. Unfortunately, the inner double spring can
knock the 'top hat' seals off the guide resulting in
no seal and increased, but not fatal, oil consumption.
I'ts not a bad idea to change the valve springs when
you do a valve job, anyway.
