Just an idea, but you may wish to take a look at the head gasket. When
I bought my low mileage '73 NAS SIII a couple of years ago, compression
was off in the No. 2 cylinder. Turns out that the head gasket was shot
and that was what caused the low compression. New gasket, even
compression.
