This thread started the grey matter churning. Since the turbo is spooled up
by the exhaust gases, at low revs it isn't particularly effective because of
the low volumes of hot gas. What about a water injection into the exhaust
manifold close to the head upstream of the turbo. The water boils and
provides a steam boost to the gas volume at low revs. Sort of like an
accelerator pump. A simple plunger pump stroked by the movement of the gas
pedal. Or even a hand pump to be used in particular situations where it's
needed.
