Lately, I've been experiencing an odd problem at start up.
When I hit the starter button, the engine will turn over, slow, and then
surge. Best way I can describe it. Similar to what it feels like to start
the engine with the hand crank. Turns easy, gets harder as compression
builds, and speeds up once you've gotten to the down stroke. Repeat.
This only happens with the ignition on. The engine turns over without
hesitation when I just hit the starter button with the ignition off (no
spark). Based on that, I don't think it's starter related or due to a bad
ground. I've got plenty of battery power.
Any thoughts? Other then wanting a bit of choke and gas first thing in the
morning when it's cold (cold being a relative at 45o), the truck has never
failed to start, even with this new symptom.
