ISTR that the argument goes that the engine wasn't specifically designed to
run on unleaded, but because the exhaust valves are located in the block,
they do have seat inserts, which may or may not be adequately hardened. You
should bear in mind that this engine had a bit of a reputation for burning
its exhaust valves. In the long run, a proper unleaded conversion would mean
replacing the valve seats anyway, so you might as well continue to run in on
unleaded until the valve clearances close up, and then get the seats done.
Dropping in a Diesel would be sacrilege!
