    guys,
just got the following press release

<<<"Rocky Mountain the Canadian manufacturer of parabolic springs and
overdrives for Land Rovers has introduced a new high torque starter for use
on Land Rovers with four cylinder petrol engines.

Two units are available, one for Series Land Rovers with 2.25 litre engines
and one for the Defender 2.5 litre engine.

Both starters are compact in size and are of the pre-engaged type with a
built in starter solenoid. The illustration shows the size of the unit
compared to the Lucas starter that it replaces in a Land Rover Series IIA.

These starters produce more torque than the original Series starter and spin
the engine at higher RPM using much less current than before. As the
starter engages on the forward edge of the ring gear it can be used on a
worn ring gear with no ill effects. As the starter is far smaller than the
original Lucas it can be mounted and dismounted without loosening the
    exhaust pipe from the manifold.">>>

some of you are quite near to Canada as is my understanding :-)

    Best Cheers

    Reverend Frank
