Pictures would be great. TeriAnn has a jacking point mod on the ends of her
rear crossmember that I would like to see also.

Trim the rear quarter level with the bottom of the corner capping, try keep
an edge to fold over as it was origionally to save slicing effects.

Then weld a bracket onto the end of the rear x-member so you can insert a
flat length of angle/box along the length of the bottom of that rear
quarter. It'll then be strong enough to fend off branches, if you drop then
it drops to the x-member and rear quarter at the same time not rear quarter
then x-member, and when it gets badly mashed you can unbolt the angle and
bolt in a new straight length, which will pull the panel back to 'good
enough' straight again.
And if that makes no sense I'll come back with pictures when mine is done!
