    Jim,
    I never got around to fixing it--it's still far too shallow to allow use
    when the nut is on the mainshaft--which is, of course, the only time it's
    really very useful.

    This is tranny work--since I swapped transfer cases I've had no end of
    problems w/ that mainshaft getting loose. Due to the locations of the
    tabs on the special washer I've never been able to make it terribly
    tight--both times I needed to back it off a bit from "chisel tight" to
    get one of the tabs to line up w/ one of the gaps in the nut. Both times
    it's loosened--when I pulled it off last week it had actually broken both
    of the locating teeth off of the washer and gotten loose. So, I figure
    that the tranny's probably not really healthy now (symptoms were BAD
    vibrations and lots of popping out of 3rd and 4th) and so I'll sling in
    the other tranny and t-case I have, after putting on the BRAND NEW
    synchro I just got from Blanchard (30 UKP vs. $150 from RN).
