The wipers that came on my 109 do not have set screws. They appear
relatively new, so are obviously not original. They have a brass collet
inside the top-hat that caps the motor spindle. You tighten the brass
collet's exposed hex nut to affix it to the shaft. I recently
repositioned these wipers to center the spread on the wind screen, and
they come off/on really nice, and even tighten in place well.
However, what I wold like to fit are marine wipers. These have minimal
rigid frame, but the rubber blade is taller/thicker. These fit to the
wiper arm with a stud and nut. I've seenthem work very well in rain and
salt spray on the ocean. They also last a long time given the extreme UV
exposure. With the Series flat glass, I don't think you need the
suspension in the typical replacement wiper holder either. You can get
these in just about any length blade, but the problem is the correct
length arm. So far I only found a set of aluminum billet arms from a
hotrod parts house, but they were ~$45/pair.
