Are they not getting any voltage out of the shunt box? Is voltage getting
to the shunt box? The shunt box is the smaller box that has one input
connection and two output connections. It has the 4 wing nuts holding the
cover. Does your shunt box have an amp meter on it or do you have 2 amp
meters on the dash? This will tell you what system you have in your FFR to
order new parts. The shunt box regulates and separates the power between
the engine batteries and the radio batteries. The lower output line goes to
the radio batteries and you might not have that line connected because some
are removed. If you are getting power to the shunt box but no power out,
you can either swap the shunts in the box or hook up the output wires to
the radio battery output to get regulated voltage. If your regulator is out
(the larger black box with multiple bolts holding the cover) then you are
dead in the water without diagnosing the box or replacing it. Order one
from Military Vehicle Spares if that is your problem.
Do you amp meters on the dash (or meter on the shunt box) read anything?
Make sure the ground wire from the battery box is connected to the frame.
Also check the stainless wrapped cables coming from the generator to the
voltage regulator, from the voltage regulator to the shunt box, and from
the shunt box to the engine for damage as it runs under the vehicle and
through holes. They can wear through and short to ground.
If you need any more help with the 24 volt system just e-mail me.
