After 20 years of working on my Land Rover I seldom bother to throw the
manual in. i generally will if I'm planing to be out a month or
longer. I used to carry spare rear axles until I switched to
Salisbury. But usually with a broken axle I can make it in to a place
with a phone and UPS delivery.

I do carry a torque wrench. I remember the common specs.
I used to carry a lot of subassemblies and spare parts but I've come
more & more to rely upon pretrip inspection and regular maintenence.
That plus being able to get to a place UPS delivers.
