I was actually thinking this as well. I can't recall if this car has
the same fuel-tank switch that the Airportable used, but mine started
bleeding air into the fuel line, resulting in stalling and loss of
power on hills. I made a new (leather) gasket to fit the tank switch
and the problem disappeared. In any case it sounds a lot like fuel
starvation but there are a plethora of possible causes. Hope they can
get it sorted without too much trouble.
