Simple - if the original design had one (the bleedin' Fiat) then the
installation will.
Personal opinion - try it without and see. If you get wildly inaccurate
readings then it likely does.
Second caveat - if you have an electronic ignition your readings will be
inaccurate - most of these damn things work off the duty cycle of the coil
voltage and the electronic ignitions screw them up.
