Subject: Exporting to the US of A
Date: Sat, 4 May 96 0:26:26 BST

I am looking for any information on the cost of shipping a LR to the
US from Britain. We have an American engineer over here for a number
of months, and would like to ship back home a LR with him. He is
looking to spend ~4K pounds on a 110 or something. Does the cost of
export still vary according to the new price of the vehicle? He is
willing to ship it from anywhere in Britain to about anywhere in the
US if it will save him some money. Getting the LR to ship is not a
problem, but if is thousands to ship it then it might not be worth his
while ...

thanks in advance for any help and advice,

David Bell

Uhhh... excuse me? ... Is this a normal qualification for an
"instructor" position?

It rather makes one wonder where the priorities are in these off road
experience events :)

Subject: Speedos etc

	Have a few questions...

How much 'tounge' is there suposed to be on the transfer case
side of the spedometer cable? I am having trouble with my cable pulling
out of the drive beacuse of the direction the toothing travels at the gauge.

Will the 4WD still engage if I replace the transmission cover over
the floor boards? I know, try it.. :) I just had it all apart to scrape
the 1/4"-1/2" of caked on dirt/oil from the transmission that the P.O.
had applied, apearently wanting to prevent rust.

I am experiencing some run-on with my SIII ( Zenith 36IV carb ),
but only after the engine has been warmed up - I have replaced the fuel
lines from the pump forward, following the same route & using the same
size line. Adjusting the mix/idle doesn't seem to make any diffrence. I
think the carb is due for a good cleaning & rebuild - can I tell if this
has been done once already? Can it be done again or is that the solex
that has only 2 lives?

	Thanks everyone!

Since none of my replies seem to be coming back to me - from the list or
from being bounced - I figured that I would send a message to the
LRO@Land-Rover.Team.Net address and see what happens...

Judging from the "invitations" brochure I'd estimate the job
requirements to be:

1) Proper grooming (proper breeding preferred)
2) Able to serve caviar properly
3) Able to wash & detail 10 Range Rovers in field conditions (Must
provide own elephants :-)
4) Maintain adequate stock of Grey Poupon & Champagne
5) Drive Off Road (ability to keep the Range Rover clean while off road,
preferred)

Need info to see if there is any way of placing auxiliary gas tanks on the NAS
Defender 90. I have contacted Craddocks and K&J Slavin in England and their
products will not work on fuel injected vehicles. Let me know if you can help.

To you folks on the real-time list, this is probably the umteenth complaint,
but...what the hell is up with the major??/ For the past three weeks,
digests have been, well, *interesting*. I've been getting alternating CSO
and LRO digests - coil sprung one day, lro the next. And now both have
apparently shut down completely. I'm still subscribed to both, but I think
the Major needs to go onto the rack for a lube job and complete tune-up.

And another question: How do you post to the CSO digest? I've used my
mailer's automated reply, then every permutation and combination of CSO...,
UK-..., ...@Land-Rover, and ...@playground... but all I get are 19 pages of
headers (apparently, the list's entire roster) with error messages...BUT I
still get individual replies to posts, even though my message doesn't appear
in the digest. Weird.

To the sticks via the Styx!!

What part of the sticks are you referring to? I'm in Gloversville, in
upstate NY. The sticks are 5 miles North of here!! There are (at last count)
11 older Land Rovers in the area (one chap has 4, I have 3). True, out of
that group I think only 3 are licensed. A few years ago there were 5 others,
but they have all moved on...
