Well, I do have the tub of my 109 project sitting in the yard, and that
project has been going since August... So my wife has a right to complain.
It needs a clutch and of course, all new hydraulics.
It has a carter carburetor.... anyone have experience with these?
Springs are ok looking...
Frame has surface rust, as does the bulkhead in spots, but none penetrating.
The barn it was in was damp - this is Oregon after all, and the guy I bought
it from (Doug Shipman) says he spent a bit of time with a scotch brite pad
getting the moss and mildew off the paint. Nice, original, faded, and
peeling red paint. Doug is going to keep it and get the clutch work done
first and we will see if it breaks free. If not, we'll be dropping a used
engine in.
Hasn't been registered since 1980. Has had only two owners both here in
Oregon. Seats are elephant hide and uhhhh shabby. No dings to speak of but
some poorly done bondo on one fender corner, which I will be removing when I
get it home.
The door frames are solid and I saw no bubbled paint. Battery tray is
rotten (Optima to come). Tires are a mixed bag, all weather checked.
Wheels are a bit rusty. 16 inch rims.
I imagine I am looking at engine issues, hydraulics, fuel lines and possibly
the tank. It's need a new sender since the tank is presumably empty. Looks
like the aux tank actually worked at one point because there is a gauge for
it and it has what looks to me like the rover aux. tank switch.
Lord knows about the wiring.
Anyone resurrected a suspended animation rover lately with pointers on what
else I need to be prepared to deal with?
Simon
