The LR optional parts manual shows such a thing, as do some
of the owner's manuals. The stock installation was an
integrated radio/speaker all in one case that bolted up
under the parcel shelf.
Wiring then ran up into the instrument cluster area from
there, with a lead out to either a rooftop-mounted or a
wing-mounted aerial.
Aftermarket, I've seen all sorts of stuff mounted in
Rovers. A lot of the old ones (dealer-installed) seem to
have been of the same type - integrated AM/FM/LW (or
combinations thereof) units with integrated speaker.
One I have in my collection of radios is rather unique and
is going to see service in a Rover someday. It's an AM/FM
portable radio with a unique car bracket. This bracket was
meant to be bolted up under a dashboard or wherever. The
radio, when placed into it, then took its power and antenna
signals from the vehicle mounted parts.
This way, when traveling you had the benefit of a good car
radio, and coult take the radio out for picnics or home use
when otherwise occupied.
The one I have is a mid-60s Radio Shack one, though I've
had similar units as built by Blaupunkt and Grundig.
