Watched a program on the telly last night (Sunday) called "Car Junkies",
which was about the love-affair with the 4x4.
They talked about the wyllis jeep, and the Land Rover, then the
emergence of the big 4x4 station-wagons in the US, which was the start
of the SUV marketting drive.
They then pointed out that actually, the Range Rover was launched in '72
- before the station-wagons, and was the first real SUV (the land Rovers
being farmers work-vehicles, not sports vehicles)
They then went on to talk about the car makers getting the SUV's classed
as Trucks, and I changed channel to watch a program about The Magic
Roundabout...
So, a series land rover is a) not a truck, and b) not an SUV.
