    Yes.
    Though it is the standard factory mounting location for station wagons
    many doors do get damaged over time. The door can develop stress
    cracks and sometimes get tweaked out of shape.

    The Factory first addressed this by adding a third hinge in the middle
    for better stiffening. I have a how-to in the LR section of my web
    site. I think it is in the FAQ section. It is critical for the third
    hinge to line up precisely with the other two.

    Next the factory replaced rear door mounting with a swing away mount
    which completely takes the load off the rear door. This is a lot
    stronger than the earlier solutions.

    British Pacific (prt # DMN050) and probably others offer a swing away
    rear tyre carrier for series rigs with rear doors.

    Or just buy a second lower rear door hinge and install it in the
    middle.
