    It could have been a sixpence, a 1 shilling coin, a 2 shilling coin or
    a half-crown (two shillings and six pence). These were all "silver".

    Bronze coinage of the time (pre decimal) was the Farthing (1/4 penny),
    ha`penny (1/2 penny) a penny or a threepenny bit.

     Ten Shillings was a note. It was replaced by the post decimal 50p
    coin.
     
     We decimalised in 1971.
