    As long as the flywheel is there the engine can be safely run at idle. Just
    make sure that the back of the engine is blocked up to the right angle to
    prevent the fan digging into the radiator.

    Dumb question - did you smell the oil coming out the drain? Did it smell
    like 90-weight or engine oil? THis could tell you right off who's leaking -
    though if you have stripped bolts in the throwout bearing housing it's a
    good bet it's leaking from that gasket.
