I had a non-landrover vehicle once, that slowed and slowed while accelerating
as if building up some sort of resistance. Finally at 30 mph and foot on the
floor, it completely disintergrated it's exhaust by blowing it into a million
pieces like a shotgun blast. There was shredded muffler material all over the
road and under the car. After that it ran very well indeed, loud but well.
