    Another story from my archaeologist friend: he's doing excavations in
    Jordan, Syria, Israel and other places in the area and of course he
    employs local (arab) workers. The local people just don't undertand how
    someone could be stupid enough to dig for *stones* and are convinced he's
    digging for treasures. More than one excavation site has been totally and
    irreparably devastated while he was away by locals with bulldozers digging
    for the gold.
