Clinton, i just went and had a look at the Moss Motors catalogue for MG
Midgets. Other than their denial that new Lucas units exist (oh, yes, go
buy a Mallory at 4X the price! and 5 X the replacement parts price!) the
illustrations were most illuminating.
The 1500CC Midget did indeed use a 45D4 from what I can see here -
essentially late IIa production and non-US Series III (USA used the
emissions horrid lump....). A 45D4 conventional should literally plug and
play, as would a 25D4 if you have one laying around you want to lend him.
The electronic jobby he has is just a variant on the 45D4 body - scrap
otherwise but uses the same mountings.
