Mojave Road, 31 December 1995, Morning, Right Fork
(photographs cited left to right, top to bottom)
The right fork proved to be a lot more challenging (and damaging for the
SIII) then the left one. Gerry wisely left his Disco behind a hundred feet
or so before the first photo was taken.
Rick went first and just below here stoped to engage his lockers. Ben was
second and finally made it after a few attempts. [JB]
Lynn, wisely, took another line and made it look easy. [JB]
A little further up the SIII had some problems with soft earth so the
sand ladders were used. [RL]
The trail had a loose section just around the bend (behind the D90) where
the SIII needed to use the sand ladders, but then the trail got easier.
Jim at the wheel this time. [BS]
Jim almost at the mine, but just before a large patch of ice. [BS]
The mine (opening on the left). Rovers pose in the bruised (black and
blue) pattern. [JB for LK,JH]
Another shot at the mine (with all of us in the photo). [RL]
On the way down Ben got hung up on both diffs, necessitating the use of
a winch. Yet another toy (I mean tool) that got used. [LK,JH]
Jan moves a rock while Lynn's D90 holds the SIII via the winch cable.[RL]
