Yes. Converted 7 dead doors into 3 good ones, then spent ages flattening the
skins and attaching them, then found door bottom repair sections for about
#4 and special offer on complete door bottoms for about #25. Doh!

Silicone sealant is a VERY bad idea if you need to paint the doors
afterwards - took me ages to remove it and then seam-seal - lesson learned
the hard way.

Its a good idea - else you'll have aloooominum alloy, zinc, and potentially
steel in contact, add some water and a little salt for fun and you'll get
some nice reactions going...

Soudns fine - I clamped the door skin and frame to a length of (first of
all) 2" sqaure tube, tightened the clamp, tapped the edge flat, removed the
clamp, and found I'd put a neat diagonal crease along the bottom of the
door. :( Later I used 4x2 box-section steel tube, and this 'bridged' over
the whole area of the frame and did not distort the doorskin.
