Robert writes - When exactly was the Salisbury axle offered? Was it
    available on late
Series IIa's? Do all Series III's have it? Was it only available on the
109's, or did the 88's have it as well?

When Rover were winding down ser 2A 109's they ran out of some
components and introduced the ser 3 parts, there are/were a number of 2A
    - 109's around with the Salisbury rear axle and the all synchro gearbox
(albeit with the ser 2A clutch)
Otherwise the axle was introduced with the ser 3 - 109. It is not
offered with the 88, the diff is much larger than the standard LR diff,
the result id if you fit a Salisbury to an 88 you end up with a very
short rear prop shaft at a steep angle.

    Regards
     Bill Leacock
