    There is a little tin cover over the front of the selector
    shafts on the front of the transfer case. Get that off
    there and give the shaft ends a good cleaning - might be
    they're sticking.

    Getting the cover off will allow you to observe their
    behavior - so if things simply aren't moving you can figure
    out what's going on.

    Engaging 4 Hi and a good whack with a rubber mallet might
    cure things, too.....8*)
